Emergency Information

Student safety is always our first priority. Please review our emergency protocol so you know what to expect.

School Closures

For the safety of our students and staff, schools may close due to extreme weather conditions, mechanical failure, or unforeseen emergencies.

We will announce school closure or late start by 6:00 a.m. online and through local media outlets. Additionally, we will contact families by phone, text, and/or email. If you do not receive a message or hear a report through the media, please plan to attend school as regularly scheduled. Please do not call the school; we need to keep our telephone lines open to handle emergencies.

In the event of emergencies occurring during the school day, we will invoke the Jennings County School Crisis Response Plan.

Travel Advisories

View current travel status information provided by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. We will refer to this map to determine whether travel within Jennings county is safe.

If at any time Jennings County is labeled orange or red, we will cancel all activities, events, and mandatory practices. The high school may hold voluntary practice (under the orange level) with the approval of the principal and the superintendent or designee. We will not penalize students unable to attend an optional practice. We do not permit any activities, and all buildings must close during a red level alert.
