IF YOU HAVE A CONCERN OR A QUESTION..

There are countless human contacts in an organization of more than 600 employees who are working with more than 5,000 students. Questions, concerns, miscommunications, and complaints are inevitable and can be corrected through direct communications with the person responsible. The following suggestions may be of some assistance in determining whom to contact:

1.   If the question or concern is about a procedure or condition at a specific build ing, please contact the building principal. The building principal will be of assistance when direct contact with a teacher or school bus driver has not resolved the situation.

2.   For a question or concern that is of a system-wide nature, please contact the Central Office at 812-346-4483. Arrangements will be made to assist each person with their question or concern.

3. Unsettled matters can be directed to the superintendent and if still unsettled satisfactorily by the superintendent, it can be brought to the attention of the Board of School Trustees. To initiate this step, a letter should be addressed to the President of the Board, with a copy to the superintendent, requesting that the con cern be brought to the attention of the School Board at its meeting. (Policy 9130)

EARLY SCHOOL DEPARTURES - ELEMENTARY

All students will be sent home from school according to their established routine unless we receive a note from the parent or guardian stating the change. Students leaving school with someone other than their parent or guardian must have written parental permission. All students must sign out in the office. Phone calls to change a child's routine home will not be accepted.

CHILD CUSTODY

Jennings County Elementary Schools are utilizing the following procedures con cerning child custody. Any questions concerning documents need to be directed to the  office of the principal.

1. In case one parent asks that the children not be allowed to leave the school with the other parent, a custody paper, restraining order, or some other legal doc ument must be in the child's folder at school.

2.   Legal opinion states that either parent has equal rights to the child unless one of the above mentioned legal documents have been issued.

3. In the event that a parent says they have such a document at home, it becomes most imperative that the document or notarized copy be brought in with in a short period of time to be included in the child's school records. It is the parent's responsibility to provide copies of the documents.

WITHDRAWAL OF PUPILS

If you are planning to move from our school district, please notify your building principal at least one week before you leave. Certain withdrawal slips are issued to your child to be presented to the principal or teacher at your new school. A file which contains your child's records is sent to your new school district upon request.

LOST  AND FOUND

During the winter months, particularly, we find that children lose many fine pieces of clothing. Please label all of your children's clothing if possible. Coats, mittens, overshoes, and scarfs seem to be the articles lost in great amounts. By mark ing or labeling articles much loss of clothing could be eliminated.
