![]() Dear Parents, The following information is provided in order to help answer common questions concerning our school. ATTENDANCE Good attendance is important to your child's success in school. If it is necessary for your child to be absent or tardy, a phone call to school or a note giving the reason for the absence or tardy MUST be brought to the teacher upon the student's return to school or the student will be counted unexcused. Attendance letters will be sent if your child misses 7 days of school, again at 10 days, or has 3 unexcused absences. A student will be counted: Tardy - arrival from 8:15 to 9:30a.m. ½ day - arrival after 9:30a.m. ½ day - leaving before 2:00p.m. Early Departure- leaving after 2:00 p.m. or before bus dismissal
LUNCH Each student at NVE has a Harmony lunch account. Each day's lunch, milk, or breakfast will be deducted from their personal account. The program allows you the option of sending money, weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly. Lunch balances are printed on Thursday and are recorded on the bottom of the school Bulletin that is sent home every Friday in the Friday Folder. Breakfast - $1.25 Lunch - $1.75 per day NVE DOES NOT allow students to charge breakfast.
BOOK RENTAL FEE Grade 1 - $111.13 Grade 4 - $92.56 Grade 2 - $97.57 Grade 5 - $95.07 Grade 3 - $97.80 Grade 6 - $96.35 TRANSPORTATION The circle drive is for transporting your child to/from school. Other areas are designated bus lanes. DO NOT use these other areas.
EARLY ARRIVAL Students should not be arriving before 7:30 a.m. There is no adult available to supervise prior to this time. Paid childcare services are available before and after school at NVE through the House of Great Care. Call 346-6790 for more information.
STUDENTS LEAVING SCHOOL PREMISES Students leaving NVE with someone other than their parents or legal guardian must have written permission from their parent. CHANGES IN AFTER SCHOOL ROUTINE Changes in a child's afternoon routine MUST BE in writing and sent with your child to school or be delivered to the Office. Changes in routine WILL NOT be taken over the phone.
VISITORS Due to increased security all visitors must report to the Office when visiting school, sign-in, and pick-up a visitor's pass.
ENROLLMENT AND EMERGENCY FORMS You must list at least two emergency numbers where the school can contact a responsible person.
IN CASE OF ILLNESS Regular attendance is vital to your child's educational success. However, we do not encourage attendance at school if a child is seriously ill. If your child gets sick at school, you will be contacted.
MEDICATION If medication must be taken at school, it is required to be sent in the original container bearing the child's name with written permission. Please contact our school nurse, Nancy Hughes, if you have any questions. STUDENT DRESS CODE Any dress, which is lewd, obscene, vulgar or offensive, is inappropriate. The following are examples of inappropriate clothing. •1. Clothing or buttons, which suggest, imply, or advertise a sexual message, drug, or alcohol message, or tobacco message. •2. Clothing which is too tight or revealing (shorts, skirts, & dresses must be finger tip length, bicycle shorts, inappropriately slashed jeans, revealing tops, spaghetti straps, and tank tops).
CELL PHONES If your child must bring a cell phone to school, it MUST be turned off and kept in their book bags during school hours and on the bus. Students MAY NOT make or RECEIVE calls or text messages during these times.
CLASSROOM TREATS Treats brought to school for classroom celebrations MUST be store purchased. Parents are encouraged to provide healthy snacks and treats, or non-food items, when supplying items for classroom celebrations. Please contact your child's teacher before bringing in treats, so they may adjust the schedule.
SHOW YOUR INTEREST By regularly asking about favorite school activities, reviewing papers and projects, attending P.T.O. meetings, reading the weekly news letters, and listening to what your child has to say about what's happening at school demonstrates your interest in your child's education.
TAKE AN ACTIVE PART IN SCHOOL LIFE ~Attend our Parent Teacher Organization. Work together to improve the school for your child's sake and for the school's sake. ~Attend scheduled programs. They're held regularly during the school year so you can get acquainted with teachers and discuss any problems. ~Stay in touch.
